School
- Children’s education is extremely important in Canada. Our government offers education free of charge for children in Kindergarten (5 years) to Grade 12. Our education system encourages parents to be part of their children’s education. To be a positive force in their school life make sure your children attend classes, and finish assinments. Regualr contact with the school is very important. In Manitoba school starts in early September and breaks for summer in late June. There are breaks throughout the school year for school staff training days (also known as Professional Development Days), statutory holidays, spring break and various other occasions.
- Visit the Government of Manitoba Immigration website for information on the first steps to educating your children in Manitoba.
- Education in Manitoba does not need to stop at Grade 12. Many graduates continue their education at one of our many post-secondary facilities. Manitoba offers a wide variety of facilities and programs for post-secondary education.
- If you are moving from a country where English is unfamiliar to you, there are many programs available for you to learn English. Some of these programs are free of charge for recent immigrants.
- The province is divided into multiple school divisions that administer schools within a set area. Each division is governed by an elected school board. The school divisions in our region offer a wide variety of compulsory and optional activities for our children.
