Climate

Southwest Manitoba is fortunate to experience all four seasons. The year starts off with a crisp winter morning. Everyone wakes up to the glistening frost on the trees and the sound of fresh snow crunching under their feet as they head to work. The air may feel as cold as -35 degrees Celsius on the odd occasion, but that doesn’t stop families heading to the local arena in the evenings for ice hockey, skating or a curling event. As March and April arrive the air begins to welcome warmth. The snow slowly melts, and nature starts to reappear with new beauty. Little by little spring rains in April, May and June give nourishment to the budding trees, new grass and agricultural crops. Now children are attending soccer and baseball games with the excitement of summer arriving. In July, August and September the heat of the sun encourages our crops to grow and thrive. Families go on camping trips and hiking adventures. The golf courses are full of beginners and pros. Once the children have headed back to school and the bountiful crops have been harvested, autumn arrives. In October the leaves on trees change to beautiful red and gold. It is a sight that must be seen. As the snow starts to fall in November the year will soon be coming to an end and a new one ready to begin.
