- We offer the most current communication utilities available. Everyone has access to telephone, internet, television and many newspapers. Our media provides access to international, national, provincial and local community programs.
- Newspaper: There are two national newspapers and over 100 local community newspapers available in Manitoba. Many of our regional communities have a local community newspaper. This paper is usually available for purchase weekly, through a mail or internet subscription. The local papers are a good way of getting to know your community and what it has to offer.
- Internet: This is a paid service in Manitoba. There are different suppliers that offer this service. You can compare prices before you commit to your service. In some of the rural areas you may not be able to purchase high speed internet. Satellite internet is another option for some. Most public libraries offer internet use on their computers. Some will charge a very small fee of approximately $1.00 Canadian for one hour of use.
Telephone and cell phone: Home phone service can be acquired from a variety of phone companies. They offer a wide verity of programs and packages for home phone services. There are many different long distance services available in Manitoba. A basic service will be sufficient if you don’t make many long distance calls. If you are planning to make a lot of long distance calls you should look into the different services that suppliers are offering. You can often save money by signing up for a special long distance program that suppliers provide. It is best to ask several companies about their rates before choosing one. If you would prefer to have a cell phone there are multiple providers for this service. Be sure to compare prices of their services and additional fees.
- Television: This is also a paid service in Manitoba, and there are multiple suppliers that offer this service. Cable and satellite are the two options that are available for television in the Southwest.
